#Designyourshirt winner – Avie Tonido

Cricket is back for the summer and Canterbury Cricket want to thank our fans for being creative!

In a partnership with Māia Health Foundation, MediaWorks and Dynasty Sport, Canterbury Cricket asked our fans to get creative and design a shirt for both our MAGICIANS and KINGS to wear during their warm up for a Super Smash fixture later this season.

Over 200 shirt design entries were submitted from creative people of all ages from across the country.  All entries went into the competition to have their shirt judged the best and transformed from concept into reality.

We’re pleased to announce that Avie from Merrin Primary School has been judged the winner of the 2020/21 #designyourshirt competition!

Merrin Primary School received a special visit on Friday afternoon from Canterbury Cricket where Avie was presented a digitalised copy of her design at a surprise school assembly in front of her peers. Avie will also get the official shirt presented to her on Jan 16th at the Magicians v Blaze match at Hagley Oval.

Four copies of the shirts will be signed by some of Canterbury’s top athletes and one will be up for silent auction at our Super Smash games at Māia marquee at the ground on match days. All proceeds will go to Māia’s youth mental health project.

Canterbury Cricket would like to thank everyone who submitted a design. We’ll be in touch next month with a free ticket to a Super Smash fixture at Hagley Oval.

About Māia Health Foundation

Māia Health Foundation is a charitable trust launched in May 2016 to enhance health services in Canterbury.  It is the official charity partner of the Canterbury District Health Board, with a vision to “be the difference” – taking our health services from good to great.

To date the Māia Health Foundation has raised over $11 million.  This has gone towards a large, future-proofed rooftop helipad for Christchurch Hospital Hagley, enhancements to the children’s facilities, improvements at Burwood Spinal Unit and several other individual projects.
