GRAND FINAL VICTORY

The Canterbury Magicians sent their skipper Amy Satterthwaite off in style on Saturday by beating the Wellington Blaze to claim the Dream11 Super Smash title at Hagley Oval. Satterthwaite, who broke the record for the number of caps for a Magicians player and was playing in her last T20 match for Magicians, won the toss and elected to bat first. The Magicians got off to a flyer courtesy of openers Kate Anderson and Abby Gerken who put on 74 for the first wicket.

HAGLEY OVAL TO BE RENAMED ‘SATTERTHWAITE OVAL’ IN HONOR OF AMY SATTERTHWAITE’S FINAL HOME MATCHES IN CANTERBURY

As the curtain draws on Amy Satterthwaite’s impressive career in Canterbury, a fitting tribute is being made to honour her legacy. Hagley Oval will be renamed Satterthwaite Oval for her final home matches, paying homage to her stellar accomplishments for the region. For Amy, this is a moment to be cherished and remembered, and for Canterbury, a chance to thank her for her dedication and service to the sport.

CANTERBURY MAGICIANS AND KINGS GIVE GENEROUSLY TO SUPPORT BRAIN INJURY TRUST AT SUPER SMASH GRAND FINAL

The Canterbury Magicians and Kings are proud to have donated their old playing kits and training gear that were sold at the Super Smash Grand Final, with all proceeds going to the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust.  The response to the donation was overwhelmingly positive, with the sale of the kits and training gear contributing to the trust being able to raise a total of $3000. The Canterbury Magicians and Kings are proud to have contributed to such an important cause, and would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who supported by contributing to the final total.
