Captain Cole Debuts for BLACKCAPS

Canterbury Men’s Captain Cole McConchie made his international debut overnight against a strong Bangladesh side. Defending just 60 runs, Cole got the BLACKCAPS off to the ideal start, taking a wicket with his first ball in international cricket to dismiss left-handed opener, Mohammad Naim.

Unfortunately, there weren’t many more highlights in a game where the hosts batted expertly against the BLACKCAPS’ three-pronged spin attack of Patel, McConchie and Ravindra.

BLACKCAPS Captain and Cantabrian, Tom Latham is looking ahead to the rest of series, saying, “Hopefully, we will take plenty of learnings from what happened today and for us it’s about trying to find a way in these conditions and obviously it’s completely different to what we have back home.”

After a rocky start, the BLACKCAPS will look to put a strong performance in the second T20i this Friday September 3rd

On the other side of the world, The WHITE FERNS began their tour of England, where an impressive 97 off 63 balls from the hosts’ Tammy Beaumont proved the difference between the two sides.

Despite the loss, a defiant knock of 43 off 31 from Canterbury’s Amy Satterthwaite gave New Zealand fans something to cheer about, with the Cantabrian being the pick of the kiwi batters.

All WHITE FERNS and BLACKCAPS games will be broadcast live on Spark Sport this summer.
