Canterbury on the road for round two

After an opening round draw against a strong Northern Districts line-up, Canterbury will be looking for a win when they take the field against the Wellington Firebirds at the Basin Reserve starting on Tuesday 29th October.

Canterbury have made just one team change for the second round of the Plunket Shield with Fraser Sheat coming in for Theo van Woerkom who is currently playing in the Canterbury A game in Rangiora.

Head Coach Brendon Donkers is looking to build on some strong performances from last week, but also realises that travelling to the Basin is never an easy task.

“We have taken a lot of positives from our performance against Northern Districts. We showed great temperament with the bat and created periods of pressure with the ball. Early season, it was a good measure of where we are at”.

“Wellington are a different beast at home. They know their conditions well and are coming off a convincing first round win. We’ve spent most of the pre-season adapting to different training surfaces and I know that we’ll be tactically and mentally ready for what we face in Wellington”.
