Ara Institute builds on CCA partnership

Canterbury Cricket are excited to have Ara Institute of Canterbury back on board as a major partner for the 2020/21 season.

Ara enjoys a close relationship with community cricket in Canterbury and sees the collaboration with Canterbury Cricket as a keyway in which education and sport can work together to build prosperity for our community.

Emma West, Manager – Engagement, Strategy & Projects at Ara Institute of Canterbury Ltd said:

“Ara’s 2021 partnership with Canterbury Cricket is a reaffirmation for us of a partnership that works extremely well for both parties.

“Ara is excited about extending the partnership agreement for the next two years, as this will enable the continuation of the benefits that Ara learners and the wider Canterbury community enjoy from this partnership.”

While a lot of the support Ara provides for community cricket happens behind the scenes, this season Ara will be sponsoring a Super Smash game making it FREE to attend to members of our community. They’re also getting involved as a sponsor for our first ever Beach Cricket competition to be held in Sumner early next year.

West said she’s really excited about the summer ahead.

“I’m really looking forward to the events we have coming up with Canterbury Cricket.

“The summer beach cricket competition is coming up in January as well as the free-entry Super Smash game – which I think will attract a great crowd as this will be the first game under the new lights.”

Ara will have plenty of presence around Hagley Oval this summer with the newly formed ‘Ara Army’ taking over a segment of the ground at each Super Smash game as well as their logo featuring on the front of the Canterbury MAGICANS shirt.

“The establishment of our very own ‘Ara Army’, a student-led supporter club, is another example of how the partnership will provide great experiences for Ara learners beyond the classroom.”

Ara Institute is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading tertiary institutes, offering more than 150 courses from foundation to postgraduate level. All courses have a strong emphasis on work-integration such as work placements, apprenticeships, industry-based projects and internships.
