2015/2016 Squad
Player Pathway
The path to the U21 National Tournament starts with being nominated for the U21 trials by your respective district, club or self-nomination. Should you be nominated, (remove sub-association or district) you will be invited to trial by Canterbury Cricket.

Eligibility
Players must be aged 20yrs, or younger, as of September 1st 2015.
How is the U21 Canterbury team selected?

Overseen by the Canterbury Cricket Director of Cricket, Gary Stead, a panel of selectors will select the U21 Canterbury team. The selection panel for 2015/16 is:
- Amy Satterthwaite – Canterbury Cricket Women’s Performance Manager
- Mark Lane – Canterbury Magicians & U21 Coach
Who is coaching the Canterbury U21 team?
The Head Coach is Mark Lane, and the Manager is Megan Wiseman.
Selection Criteria
Canterbury Cricket are focussed on investing in players who uphold the values of our organisation (Courage, Respect, and Integrity) and who demonstrate the right personal characteristics for long term success. A primary driver is producing ‘Great players’ through sustainable excellence. Selection criteria at this level will consider the following points (in no particular order):
- On field performances

- Recent playing history
- Attitude
- Playing potential
- Contribution to the team
- Fielding
- Commitment
- On-field/off-field behaviours
- Fitness
- Eligibility
- Availability
When selecting a team, consideration must be made to the balance of the team and the desired mix of batsmen and bowlers. This may be influenced by, but not limited to; match formats, playing conditions, surface, tournament duration, having options to cover various situations.
What can you do?
Canterbury Cricket promotes self-sufficiency from players involved in our programmes. It is expected that players have access to their own e-mail account, and check it daily. Players may be asked to supply statistics, and provide additional information from time to time.

- November 2nd – Wider Squad Named
- November 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th – Training
- November 30th – Traveling Squad Named (12 players)
- December 7th – Training
- December 15th -21st – U21 National Tournament (Lloyd Elsmore, Auckland)
- 15th v Northern Districts (50 over), Lloyd Elsmore 3
- 16th v Central Districts (50 over), Lloyd Elsmore 2
- 17th v Wellington (50 over), Lloyd Elsmore 3
- 18th REST DAY
- 19th v Otago (50 over), Lloyd Elsmore 1
- 20th AM v Auckland (T20), Lloyd Elsmore 2, PM v ND (T20), Lloyd Elsmore 2
- 21st v CD (T20), Lloyd Elsmore 1
Player Levies
There will be a levy per player for these matches of $345.00 incl. GST. This will assist us in recovering costs incurred through your participation in this tournament. These costs include:
- Clothing
- Coaches
- Grounds
- Umpires and Scorers
- Cricket Balls
- Shared Tournament Costs (e.g. Travel & Accommodation, Match costs)
Canterbury Cricket subsidise approximately 70% of the total costs for this team. Payment can be made either on or before 10 December by internet banking to Canterbury Cricket Association’s bank account 06 0801 0503783 00, (please use player name and team as reference). If you pay the levy in full on or before Thursday 10 December you will be eligible for a 10% discount i.e. total cost would be $310.50 incl. GST, OR you can take up the option of paying in two equal instalments of $172.50 on or before the following dates: December 10 and January 10.

(Note: Should you have any outstanding levies from Canterbury winter training squads or previous Canterbury teams you will not be able to participate in these matches until these are paid in full).
What if I don’t get selected in the U21 Canterbury team?
The Secondary School regional tournament is held at the same time as the National U21 tournament. Please contact your local district for further information on this tournament.
