Canterbury Wizards Unveil New Playing Strip for South African Clash

Thursday, 9 February 2012

The Canterbury Wizards will be sporting a new look for their upcoming Twenty20 clash against the South Africans.

Canterbury Cricket has designed a one off playing strip for the team to wear in this match which pays tribute to the anniversary of the devastating February 22nd earthquake.

Each shirt carries the distinct ‘Rise Up Christchurch’ logo across the shoulders which has become synonymous with this city. The South African team and umpires for this match will also carry the logo on their apparel as well.

Canterbury Cricket CEO, Lee Germon, said ‘it was important to us to not only bring international cricket to our city when the opportunity was offered to us by New Zealand Cricket, but to also ensure we paid tribute to the anniversary of the day our city changed forever. We see the use of the Rise Up Christchurch logo as a very fitting way to do this and are extremely touched that the South Africans also want to pay tribute to our city.’

The Canterbury Wizards take on South Africa on Wednesday 15 February at 5:00pm at Hagley Oval. Tickets are still available for this match so be in quick to secure yours on either www.dashtickets.co.nz or at any Action Indoor Sports Stadium.
