U15 Girls

To be eligible for selection you must be at Secondary School and Under 15 as at 1 September 2011. If your date of birth is 1 September 1996 (or after this date), you are eligible to play U15 cricket. If your date of birth is 31 August 1996 (or before this date) you will play Secondary School Girls’ Representative Cricket

Canterbury Cricket U15 Girls’ Regional Tournament:

The Canterbury Cricket U15 Girls Regional Tournament will be played at various venues (to be confirmed) on Sundays in November.  The tournament will feature 4 teams; 2 x Christchurch Metro Teams, Southern Districts (Mid Canterbury and South Canterbury combined) and Canterbury Country.

The format will be a mixture of 40 and T20 games. The winner of this tournament will be crowned the champion Canterbury Cricket U15 Girls team for the 2011/12 season and will receive a trophy.

At the end of the Canterbury Cricket U15 Girls Regional Tournament (or shortly after) the Canterbury U15A Girls’ team to go to Wanganui and the Canterbury U15B team to go to Otago will be named.

Canterbury U15B Girls’ Team:

From the Canterbury U15 Girls’ Regional Tournament 12 players will be chosen to represent Canterbury in the Canterbury U15B Girls’ Cricket Team.

The team will travel to Dunedin for games against Otago on Monday 16 January 2012 to Wednesday 18 January 2012.

Canterbury U15A Girls’ Team:

From the Canterbury U15 Girls’ Regional Tournament 12 players will be chosen to represent Canterbury in the Canterbury U15A Girls’ Cricket Team.

The team will travel to Wanganui to play in the North Island Tournament on January 9-12 2012.

This is the pinnacle of the Canterbury U15 Girls’ Representative season and we wish all the players selected the very best of luck for the games in Wanganui.

Secondary School Girls

To be eligible for selection you must be attending secondary school at 1 September 2011.

Trials:

The representative cricket programme for Metro Secondary School Girls’ begins on Thursday 1 December with trials at the Canterbury Cricket Community Training Centre, located at the Action Indoor Sports complex at 81 Buchanans Rd, Hornby. You can nominate yourself for a trial by clicking on the link at the end of this section.

The trials take the form of a net session where all the players who have nominated themselves are assessed on their skills. The trials last for 1 hour with sessions starting at 6pm. Players should come dressed in their cricket whites and bring their full cricket kit.

From these trials we will select two Christchurch Metro Teams to represent Christchurch at the Canterbury Cricket Secondary Schools Girls’ Regional Tournament. Those teams will be announced on the Underage Page of the Canterbury Cricket Website before 5pm on Monday 5 December 2011.

Canterbury Cricket Secondary School Girls’ Regional Tournament:

The Canterbury Secondary School Girls Regional Tournament will be played at the Mandeville Sport Ground, North Canterbury from 7 to 9 January 2012. This is the pinnacle of the Canterbury Secondary School Girls’ Representative season and we wish all the players selected the very best of luck for the games in Wellington.

Christchurch Metro Boys

Age Group Representative Programme

U18 Boys

To be eligible for selection you must be Under 18 as at 1 September 2011. If your date of birth is 1 September 1993 (or after this date), you are eligible to play U18 cricket.

Trials:

The Rep programme for U18 Metro boys begins on Thursday 3 Nov with trials at the Canterbury Cricket Community Training Centre, located at the Action Indoor Sports complex at 81 Buchanans Rd, Hornby. You can nominate yourself for a trial by clicking on the link at the end of this section.

The trials take the form of a net session where all the players who have nominated themselves are assessed on their skills. The trials last for 1 hour with sessions starting at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm. Players should come dressed in their cricket whites and bring their full cricket kit.

From these trials we select two U18 Christchurch Metro Teams to represent Christchurch at the U18 Canterbury Cricket Regional Tournament. A number of other Metro players will also fill spots in the West Coast/Buller/Metro team to compete at the Regional Tournament. These teams will be announced on the Underage Page of the Canterbury Cricket Website before 5pm on Monday 7 Nov 2011.

U18 Canterbury Regional Tournament:

The U18 Canterbury Regional Tournament will be played in Christchurch (actual venues tbc) from Monday 5 December to Friday 9 December. The tournament will feature 6 teams; 2 x Christchurch Metro Teams, Mid Canterbury, South Canterbury, Canterbury Country and a West Coast/Buller/Metro combined Team.

The format will be 1 x Two day game, 2 x 50 over games and 2 x T20 games as well. The winner of this tournament will be crowned the champion U18 team for the 2011/12 season and will receive a trophy.

At the end of the U18 Canterbury Regional Tournament the Canterbury U18 Team to contest U18 National Tournament will be named. At this time (or shortly after) an U18 Red team and an U18 Black team will be named to contest a two day game and a one day game against each other in January 2012.

U18 Red vs. U18 Black Games:

The U18 Red vs U18 Black games will be played from Monday 9 January 2012 to Wednesday 11 January 2012. The purpose of these games is to extend those cricketers who the selectors believe have the potential to play at a higher level, but were not lucky enough to be selected for the U18 Canterbury Team.

These two teams will play each other in a two day game and a 50 over game.

U18 Canterbury Team:

From the U18 Canterbury Regional Tournament 12 players will be chosen to represent Canterbury in the U18 Canterbury Cricket Team to compete in the U18 National Tournament.

The U18 National Tournament will commence with a pre-tournament three day game against Otago in Dunedin starting on Tuesday 20 December and finishing Thursday 22 December 2011.  The National U18 Tournament proper starts Wednesday 18 January and will go until Friday 27 January 2012.

This is the pinnacle of the U18 Canterbury Representative season and we wish all the players selected the very best of luck for the national tournament.

Canterbury Cricket Winter Training

Canterbury Cricket have now finalised details for the 2011 Winter Training programme.  We are excited by the prospect of our two new training venues at Action Indoor Sports, 81 Buchanans Rd, Hornby and the High Performance Centre at Lincoln University.
