Canterbury Country have retained the Hawke Cup following a combination of some excellent batting and poor weather, which ensured the game ended with a no result.
Day 1 was completely washed out, while only one session was possible on Day 2, Canterbury Country ending the day precariously placed at 132-5. However, on day 3, the experience of Robbie Frew (126) and Brendon Donkers (138no) told, as the two combined for a partnership of 218 for the sixth wicket, which ended any chance of a result.
Country ended the match on 390-8. Their next and final challenge of the season is against Hamilton from 15-17 March.
